Hi all, is it possible to change the main bearings on a M20 with the engine still in the car, my oil light flickers when warm on idle, been told this could be the cause.

Highly unlikely, first step would be a new pressure switch

Even if you were set on changing the mains, the time you'd waste working around the subframe would easily be rectified by simply taking the engine out. Remember you'd have to take your gearbox off to remove the clutch and flywheel, so you're only two bolts and some wires from taking the engine out.

Pressure switch doesn't look that old, I think I'll take your advise and remove the engine and fully rebuild it.
