I've asked for it to be 2.5" as original with same angle cut back, 318is badge is staying also! Just can't decide on the rims/springs options. Trouble is I'm thinking too much coz I'm not driving or polishing the damn thing!

I expect you could go for a small drop with the mims, maybe -25mm, although I'd be tempted to keep it as it is - sleeper look is where its at 8)

I did have a build thread on the old Zone but that's gone and I lost a load of pics from an old image account. I posted a small thread with some details of the conversion...

Might try dropping the front 25mm as the back looks fine as it is, would prob be happy with bbs is they were refurbished! There not corroded just a bit dull.
James your car looks bloody awesome! Well done!

Ok, today I've been painting up the BBS rims to fit them up when the "is" comes home. Not a perfect job but good enough until I decide if they will stay on!
Before, not trashed but very dull and yellowish (it's a word!)
Image
During, no primer used. Just scuffed them up before a coat of silver.
Image
Then a blast of lacquer and job done!
Image
Pretty happy, I think they will stay on to be honest, now I can drop it without fear of rubbidge! (It's a word!)
Image

And finally......new garage ornament

Love it quite a lot!!!!

Now totally de-council'ed with orange indicators and no eyebrows!

Totally gutted it rained the whole drive home so full throttle in any gear resulted in much wheel spin! Also have BBS back on and one that needs balancing but what a car! The custom exhaust is as quiet as standard until full throttle then it roars very nicely, man I hope it's dry tomorrow!!

Nice stuff man! Have they attached the air filter pipe to the old airbox bracket somehow?

Looks very smart. A nice and tidy conversion 8)

Need to get a heat shield for that air filter or, as there is no ABS pump getting in the way, the standard E36 airbox should fit.... that said, maybe the M42 afm bracket gets in the way??
Or I seem to remember a few people in the past modding M30 air filter boxes to fit around a cone filter for an OEMish look.

Nice work on the BBS btw 8)

Yes, there is a stainless bracket from old air box bracket, I'm afraid I can't resist intake noise hence the cone filter! but I may have a go at fabricating a heat shield.
I've tried to retain as much of the original brackets as poss so the conversion can be reversed, the coil pack bracket has been carefully removed (and retained) and though its been painted over the drill marks from picking the welds are still visible.
Thanks James, I too am loving the BBS and the whole standard look for now.
Will try and get some daytime pics today! Gotta get that bbs balanced!

Me neither :D
You can see the heat shield I made for mine, it's hiding a big ass filter!....
Image

The heat shield curved around the filter and ran right down to the chassis leg. I eventually closed the rear off as well.

I also did my conversion without removing any brackets etc so it could go back to standard 8)

Just a couple more pics
Image
Very happy with the exhaust, it's very well built, very quiet at low revs but sounds gorgeous on full attack!
Image
Tail pipe is a copy of original as requested.

Image
Very standard looking 318is  winkeye

Done a good few miles today when roads dried out, it's just stunning, had me grinning like an idiot! It just pulls so hard from so low down! The rest of the "is" handles the extra power with no issues, still handles well, and stops as before (granted I'm prob going a bit quicker now!)
BBB have done a great job! Massive thanks to Richard and Nathan!

After a day of f*cking about with a faulty prop centre bearing! we are back in business!! No fault of BBB, was a new item they had fitted, just faulty so lasted all of one day! All seems well now!
Yes Mr Goose, will give you a shout if I get a chance tomorrow! Would be more than happy with a run to the coast! 8)
Just need to pop into local generic exhaust fitters to get system re-sealed as it's chuffing where I split it from down pipe
Also have a dude from the big smoke heading over to pick up the Mims early in the day

Yes Imys the sleeper look is a bonus of the fact that I love how the "is" looks anyway. I just can't wait for the day one of those Honda civics that sound louder than a freight train try's one on me at the lights winkeye ( inner teenager still alive and well! )

Also in other news the Mrs insisted on new flooring for the conservatory  .so.........the e30 is now parked on some still very nice and not even a year old carpet! Waste not! Much better for the knees when polishing!

Ok so the "is" has been sat idle in the garage for a while now but I've finally got round to sorting the suspension! So last night and today I've got the front end fitted up with the Eibach's and fitted new lollipops, I would say it was due a pair!
Image
Will get some more pics up tomorrow I hope with the ass end done and sporting a new stance!!

Crappy pic but now has some lowness! Can't drive it to see how it handles though as I've got a big skip at the top of the drive :(
Image
Does look much better, deff gone down further on front than rear, hope that's normal with these springs.

Well time for a little update on the 328is, all is going pretty well! M52 has bedded in very well, eibach's have sorted the handling out but shocks are struggling on potholes and is a little crashy from time to time so an upgrade is on the list
Currently stripped of power rack ready for purple tag to go in

All done! What a difference!! This is an essential mod for any e30 for the cost. Thanks to Danthe for the parts and the extra info given, super easy job. I spent a few evenings but this is an easy DIY job you could do in a day :D New shocks next

What up Dave? Just text me! Thanks for bringing up the thread though :D cheers for other kind comments.
I've been getting as many miles under it as poss now the weather is getting better. The new rack is great, no play in the old one just crazy how many turns lock to lock (half turn more than my Transit!!) compared to the family C class it was feeling very antique!
Next job is new B4's on the front as the techs are a bit tired, also I've been polishing a bit more to try and correct a bit of dullness, I think it's working! Will get some pics up soon
