Been wondering for a little while now, whether there is any thoughts of the zone to be available through smart phone apps?
I use a iPhone and it's alway fiddly navigating through the forums and responding to threads.
If there is any admin required to set it up (database skills) I would like to volunteer and help achieve the above.
Interested to know where the zone is going in there near future...

How much money are we talking about?diable wrote:I think this question has been asked before, the issue is who will pay the development costs to create and support an app.
Any computer techs on the zone?

I don't find any issues navigating through it on my iphone. Works a treat for me.

205gtidrivers.com has a mobile based board for smart phone users as well as a classic site, but not an app, and it works well. They are php based so something along those lines would work well. I think you can also donate to help keep the site going.

Stop using a Polsta Phone and you'll be fine
Realistically, there are plenty of ways that there can be a more mobile friendly version of the site and some of them are free but they involve moving away from the current version of the forum software that we're using.

I find mobile versions of forums generally pretty cr*p tbh. If I am on one, I normally revert to using the desktop site anyway.
No problems surfing the zone on Google Chrome/Firefox on Android.

Iphone version has no chance due to the costs and barriers associated with developing for the Iphone, an android version would be possible but the zone already works roughly ok on android.
The only thing that would need to be changed is a skin with larger spacing on the page selection buttons to save zooming in all the time.

My Nokia 100 doesn't do the internet, therefore I get to look forward to a good browse when I get home from work
Mind, my phone doesn't do anything except phone and text, can't expect much for a tenner

If you have a Photobucket app, it's easier posting from an iPhone or iPad than from a pc.spook wrote:Can you post pics straight from an I phone direct to here?
