How do you get the top bit off of the gear stick so that I can replace the bushing that goes on the top of the Ball on the gear stick?

To remove the gear knob, yank it upwards in a way that doesn't involve breaking your own nose. It's harder than it sounds.

The top section has a circlip holding it in place - was a bitch of a job to do.

I've replaced the stick with a Z3 1.9 item, much easier and a shorter throw.capri_rob wrote:The top section has a circlip holding it in place - was a bitch of a job to do.
But as so many E30 owner's have taken this option,Munich ran out of spare gearlevers, and the new stock cost a little more!
