Hi guys, just thought I'd ask the question and see what the best way of getting my tech one side skirts on my car? I don't feel confident drilling any holes myself, should I get them put on professionally? Or is there anyone who can help in the Portsmouth area?
Last thing I want is to drill holes and they rust and cause some serious problems!
Thanks

There are fitting guides (templates) for tech II side skirts, assume there'll be the same for tech 1 kits also. Try the dealers.

yeah but then when you want to remove the skirts to clean behind, and the tiger seals trapped plenty of moisture behind, its normally a case of the skirt coming of with most of the outer sill
there is a guide with measurements on the web, if you get totally stuck though i can measure the spec on mine as i have tech 1 side skirts factory fitted

iv fitted se skirts reletively recently, which is very similar to tech1 skirts,
the hardest and most time consuming is measuring and drilling the holes, when i did this i measured everything (at least a 4 times) drilled the required holes i think theres about 8-9, i then used some rust cure sprayed on and left to dry then over painted with some etch primer, then body colour stone chip.
the tech one skirts will have some half moon holes along the top these all should have clips which will then go into the wholes in your sill. the rear of the skirt is held on the wing via two screws.
and the front is held on by a plastic screw holder which is attached to the front wing and accepts the screws from the front of the skirt.
hopefully thats make some sense

That does make sense! Thanks for your help! I'm pretty rubbish at this kind of stuff so I'll probably ask someone who knows what he's doing do fit them for me, drilling holes = irreversible damage so needs to be done properly!Rich320I wrote:iv fitted se skirts reletively recently, which is very similar to tech1 skirts,

You can but fittings new from BMW still if any of yours are ropey or missing, you probably don't have the little rubber grommet bits that go in the holes ?
If you want them done properly at a professional body shop with lots of e30 expirience , pop up to Jrc in fort Wallington Fareham - google it , ask for John and say polsta told you to pop up there, he's a top bloke and knows the cars well, won't charge you a lot for a quick cash job

That Jon wasn't there, he said to bring the skirts and car in and they will have a look and give me a price. Also Snows said I'd need to take a skirt down there and see what bits I'd need to order to fit them, screws etc. Thought it would just be easy enough to just order over the phone?
