The bonnet release cable on my 325i Touring is broken.

On a 318is I once had I could release the bonnet catch with a screwdriver through a hole to the right of the front grill. On the 325i it looks like it has the same backup mechanism but no amount of prodding is releasing the bonnet catch.

Any helpful ideas I might try?

Thanks in advance
Shel

ALL E30's have the same lock (its not the backup, this is the actual lock) but its not a prod, you need a LARGE flat screwdriver, and you insert it onto the hole in the catch and turn it - you may need some dolphin grips on the screwdriver to help turn it if its very stiff. it may also help to have someone gently push down on the bonnet to relaese some of the tension on the lock
