Brake Servo dimensions Clio vs Golf

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have the dimensions of the Clio mk2 vs Mk2 Golf. I'm building a Nissan ca18 engined e30 and have clearance issues with the turbo elbow / Servo and not much room between the turbo to the end of the master cyl so i'm after the smallest servo in circumference to allow turbo elbow clearance and the thinnest from the bulkhead to allow the end of the master cyl to clear the turbo outlet pipe......Any advice apart from "bin it and use a BM lump" wb appreciated

I'm not sure, but I think the servos are about the same size - 9" springs to mind, compared to the E30s 11" servo.

You could move the servo over towards the inner wing to gain space. The standard E30 servo will move over by about an inch, the smaller Golf/Clio servos will move over more.

Thanks JMC. If i move servo how do i extend the activation rod the runs across the bulkhead inside the car?

Use an E34 brake rod, I believe it may need shortening a little depending how far the servo can be moved.

With the smaller servo, moved as far over as it can, I doubt if it will need shortening at all.

I wasn't sure if that might be the case Brian. I don't know anyone who's used a smaller servo and moved it over. It's usually one or the other - that said, a mate of mine is currently weighing up an M52 or S50 conversion. If he decides on the S50, I'll definitely look into both as a way to minimise mods to the plenum.

does the clio servo provide alot less assist than the stock one being so much smaller in diameter?
