After posting up a wanted ad for a steering UJ, Alex contacted me offering a complete one he had for £12 posted. After agreeing to this and sending the money via Paypal over a week ago, I have received nothing, and he is now ignoring my PMs. I'm guessing this means I'm not getting the part that I've paid for.

I notice he has active for sale topics, one of which is an engine. I'd hazard a guess if hes willing to stiff someone out of 12 quid, hes probably willing to be more than economical with the truth over the condition of things he is selling. So be warned anyone else.

Alex if you are reading this, I will be reporting it to Paypal, so your account will be immediately suspended as part of their procedure. Also I have a surprising amount of your contact details from a bit of work, so I may well think of something great to do with those too. All because you wanted to half-inch 12 quid off of me. Idiot.

How much over a week are we talking? i always give 14 days before i really start to worry.

I don’t know Alex at all so I’m not taking sides, perhaps he is a con man, but perhaps it could be something innocent but just needs a bit more time to resolve?

A week? Seriously? I dont jnow alex but i bought 90 quids worth of parts off him and it took him a few days to wrap and send it. I too have taken a couple of weeks to send things before but because i regularly log in i update anyone i trade with accordingly. Alexdkj isnt a regular on here i would chill a bit it isnt ebay you know its an enthusiast forum and the guy is obviously breaking his own car in his spare time.

Dont want to sound out of turn but threatening to "do something with his contact details" is bloody childish after a week and a matter of £12. Do you think he would be a scammer if you could obtain all of his details? Crikey I bet you are the kind of person who gets angry when the bin men aren't there at 9.07am.
How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

W4nk3rs round here come in the afternoon for 50 weeks of the year, the other 2 collections are made on a random day at 6.55am I assume as some sort of uneducated bin man type of joke to wake people up in a panic :?

This is my point, he has logged in and read the messages, a simple reply would have taken under 30 seconds. All I have asked (twice) was if he had sent the part out yet, as he had offered to send it out the next day, so I was starting to think it had got lost. The amount of money is hardly important, the least you can do after someone sends you money in good faith is keep them updated. If its going to take a couple of weeks or he needs to wait for the money to clear to his account, that's no trouble at all. But common courtesy suggests you tell the person. After spending years trading on enthusiast forums myself, the general minimum requirement is not disappearing off the face of the earth once someone has paid you- no matter how small the amount.

And I couldn't really give a toss when the binmen come, as long as I have working steering!

Ok, many thanks I will bear that in mind and let you know. I basically assumed seeing as he had a few topics up and running, breaking a car etc that he would be good for it, maybe I was wrong. I have taken no actual action yet in some hope it appears, maybe spurred on by me at least slightly kicking up a fuss.

However as I think you mentioned in my wanted thread I may need an E34 joint too, as I'm mating it up to an E46 rack. I'd seen what appeared to be a few conflicting bits of information though, so I wanted to just get an E30 one and work away from there- at least id have it clear in my head then.

sometimes stuff goes missing with royal mail and you have to give it 14days to show up....i just had this with stuff from amazon. after i contacted the sellers, they said they would resend if not arrived by then.

did he agree to post within a week? or did you say it was urgent?

perhaps someone on here knows alex and can give him a bell? keep it simple and friendly eh?

i'm sure it isn't scam of the century for £12, annoying though it may be admittedly waiting for a part

I will wait and see. On the record aswell I will apologise for my earlier tone. Bad day, bad timing and all that- it was completely uncalled for. After spending most of the weekend faffing around going to and fro' for other people, I was just a bit peeved I couldn't get a simple reply over something- im not even bothered if it hasnt been sent yet. For the record I didnt need the part urgently or anything, Alex had offered to send it out next day. I have alot of stuff that is 'in transit' at the moment, and trying to keep tabs on it all is getting to be a pain in the arse.

I'm afraid I have more negative feedback to add to this.

I believe in second chances so gave Alex a chance and agreed to purchase a front valance from him

We agreed a price and he wanted it sending as a PayPal gift. Due to his feedback I asked if I could send the money as Goods / Services and I would send an extra £5. He agreed and I sent the money. Then followed a number of PM's stating problems with courier and miss communications at his end. This was over a period of a month. I was not in a rush (at the time) so was prepared to wait. His last PM said he could either send or refund. I said I would prefer the valance but if it was causing a problem I'd take a refund. That was the last I heard. I sent further PM's \ emails asking for a refund and got nothing. So in the end I had to submit a PayPal claim which expired today with no communication from Alex so they ruled in my favour and gave me my money back.

Towards the end of this I was browsing eBay and found he had my valance up for sale on there even though he'd taken my payment for it.

Again I contacted him via eBay and received nothing back.

Sorry I didn't bid on it on eBay, the payment I was referring to was the original one from on here. I just sent another message via eBay. I've bought one from Adit (which I should have done in the first place) :D

His user id is alexj600

If you search for item 251327577563 you should find the auction with the valance on. It has the identical picture of the valance he sold me on here. alexj600 is also in Abergavenny

Sorry forgot to post an outcome.

As I'd got Alex to do the sale as goods and services I was able to open the claim with PayPal. He did not respond to the case so PayPal just ruled in my favour and refunded my money. They said in the email (automated response) that they would claim the money back as per usual paypal claim.

End of the day I have my money back, I know I had my time wasted but never mind.
