Hi
My '88 318i alarm (BMW dealer fit option) went off, constant tone and I had to switch it off with the master key under the bonnet as the remote wouldn't switch it off. The car wouldn't start and I couldn't hear the fuel pump.
Opened up the alarm and the one end of the back up battery has come off and doesn't look right! It has pushed out and basically ruined the board. Something looks and smells bunt out.
My 1st choice is to remove it altogether, how easy is it to remove or bypass please?
Any help or pointers are very welcome!

IF it's been connected as BMW intended, there will be a socket hanging down from the loom that passes over the glovebox with two plain green wires going to it. If you do not have an OBC, you simply remove the plug that's fitted into this socket and replace it with an identical plug fitted with a short loop of green wire which should be tied up to the loom nearby.
If the spare plug isn't there, cut the wires to the alarm a couple of inches from the plug then solder them together and insulate properly.

Thanks for the quick reply. It is a completely standard and un-molested car so hopefully that will work. I will try and look tomorrow.
