Attempted to replace the oil in my gearbox yesterday (1988 325i) but none of my allen keys were big enough. Does anyone know the correct size? I may have to get one from BMW i think as it seemed much larger than any i have seen in the shops.

Cheers :)

i know it sounds a bit crude, but if i have been stuck with this sort ov prob once or twice ive used a correct size bolt with two nuts locked together and used the bolt head insead ov a allen key

i use a 17mm bolts tighten onto a 17mm wheel NUT... weld it off and thats become my special tool.... although is abit off but it really helps especially in urgent moment...
