Can drive shafts be replaced with out moving the diff?

If you mean without removing the diff, then yes the diff can stay bolted where it is. You will need to rotate the output cups to get at all the bolts holding the shaft to them.

The trick is once you've unbolted it, push the shaft up at the diff end, past the cup, and then rotate it around and down the cup on the diff ;)
