Hello, i am considering converting my 2003 vw golf mk4 1.6 petrol to LPG

Can anyone recommend having this done and are there any pitfalls i should look out for?

Any help on this would be great.

Thanks

Filling up is as easy as petrol, unless you mean finding filling stations is a pain.

Why do you find filling a pain? I find it much easier than filling with petrol or diesel purely because I dont have to wait as long to get to the pump! :)
Ive been on lpg for 6 years and wouldnt be without it now 8)

The economics of LPG are a bit counter-intuitive. If you've got a car that has good MPG and convert it you'll end up with a car that is incredibly cheap to run. BUT because you're saving about 40% of a relatively small bill it will take longer to pay back the initial conversion cost - unless you're doing many miles a month.

If you have a gas guzzler, you'll save the cost of the installation much faster but your car is still more expensive to run than a converted eco-warrior.

You really need to work out how long you intend to keep the car, how many miles you expect to cover in that time and see if it will pay you back on the installation cost - and don't go to a cheapo "fit in a day" type place. They're pretty universally shit and save time by cutting corners and running default maps.

Regardless of what car or average mpg it does, there is no point in converting to lpg if you only do 100 miles per week
