Yes number 4 , sit down when you get the price, think it was £85 or something daft, soldering in 2 new bulbs is easy done if you can solder

From the Rev himself:
Bulbs you want are FIVE volts, 0.06A, and ones from a reputable source should have a life of around 20,000 hours which translates to about half a million miles.
CPC-Farnell SC00337 are suitable.

Got the bulbs from CPC supplies . Due my failing eyesight ( and lack of small enough soldering kit) got local computer shop whiz kid to solder it in for a skydiver .

Packet arrived this lunchtime(only live less than a mile from the sorting office, but my street is the end of a 'walk'...)and it held just one bulb...emailed the supplier who replied almost instantly to apologise and promised to send out a pack of five...in the meantime, the next time I used the cabbie, the bloody OBC light started to work again after twenty minutes or so..WTF?

Not at all unusual with low voltage bulbs. Occasionally the broken ends of the filament will touch and hold together magnetically as long as the power is on.daimlerman wrote:the bloody OBC light started to work again after twenty minutes or so..WTF?
The ebay ones are a bit high powered compared with the originals, and could possibly cause problems with the internal dimming circuit in the OBC in time, and are about twice the price of the CPC ones!

You can replace them with LEDs, I did and you never have to worry about them again (bulbs prob lasted 20 years though).

I tried this about 8 years ago,LED's lasted less than a day, then I bought a new light box from my local friendly for about £20,according to a poster above these are now 4 times the price....hence me seeking out a more cost-effective answer.mikelat wrote:You can replace them with LEDs, I did and you never have to worry about them again (bulbs prob lasted 20 years though).

You just needed a bigger resistor...try a 400 ohm one.daimlerman wrote:I tried this about 8 years ago,LED's lasted less than a day, then I bought a new light box from my local friendly for about £20,according to a poster above these are now 4 times the price....hence me seeking out a more cost-effective answer.mikelat wrote:You can replace them with LEDs, I did and you never have to worry about them again (bulbs prob lasted 20 years though).
