There cheaper on ebay but dont work IMO.

I ended up undoing the circlip and taking the joint of the diff end and replaceing all 4 rubbers like that.

Couldnt get it any further than that using the heat tricks grease trick etc etc.

So i took the joint off.(circlip then a 3 legged puller, easier that pissing about)

And put it back together.

We used to use them at work with the mecatech boots. The best method is to place cone over the handle of a sledge hammer or pick axe, and then work from there, once you part of it over the cone, it's easy sailing, although everything is ten times harder when working on the floor.

You have to use stretchy boots with them though. You'll struggle using a normal boot.

cheers for the input guys, I've not come across stretchy boots before..i had planned on using oem but the stretchy type are better i will use them.

gratefully the whole of the rear suspension and drive train is on my bench so this should save some pain.

Removing the big retaining nut from inside the rear hubs will be difficult with the suspenion off the car as its torqued up pretty high.

Universal boots are shite, always have been always will be. Dont get me wrong they are a great way for a quick earner for fitterz, but they never seat correctly and plastering them with grease/wd40 only helps them move off the CV

Get genuine and they will not only fit properly they will also last the car out.

Always strip the CV down, clean and re-grease while on the job 8)

I have to agree 100%. We only used the mecatech ones on peugeot's etc where you can't split the joint.
