Just bought a car with a dead drivers side electric window - does anyone know what the best thing to check first would be or a link to any articles on the subject?

try swaping the drivers switch with the passenger one.
if that doesnt fix it...
then try testing the motor with a 12 volt suply
if that doesnt fix it...
then check the door connector pins (with a multimeter)
if that doesnt fix it...
