Hi all

As my fuel gauge has recently gone haywire showing anything from half to full randomly, I went to the dealer to obtain a new sender unit.

Because my car is an early car with a 58 litre tank (up to 9/83)the part number is 16141152227. Unfortunately this sender unit is NLA and no option from BMW.

Looking at realoem their is also a part number for the 318i M10 with a 55litre tank from 9/83 to 88, which is 16141178847.

My question is will the 318 part number fit my tank as BMW technical have no idea

TIA

Assuming your car is the 323i?

If so, the M10 318i one wont fit :(

The 323i lift has 2 metal pipes on the top and the M10 has a single pipe on it.

I know this because I have a M10 318 sitting in my unit and a 323i that needs a new lift, and they are different

The week before I bought the 323i, I sold the exact lift we both need on Ebay

Hi Jim

Yes it is for the 323i. And yes the 323i has two pipes so thanks for the info and I'll have to wait and see what BMW can come up with as a replacement, if anything.

Cheers :thumb:

I dont have any 320/325's in at the minute to check them against

But there is a possibility. It might even be, any Injection model is the same and the one BMW are quoting above is from a carb model? Although i'm just guessing at that...

Someone with a 320/325 chromie might be able to confirm

Hi all

The problem I see with the the newer stuff is the depth of the tank and the number of pipes coming out of the sender unit.

The early cars have the fuel pump external as well.

Has anyone had any dealings with a Tim Pollock?

How do you pronounce 'either'? I say 'either', but some say 'either'. Either is correct.

I'd also be interested if you had a second one spare after Henna and if it was the twin piped one. Also need it for a 323i
