was under the sport before removing the exhaust and having a general look around, noticed a few rust spots that i want to get sorted before the winter comes and it becomes fatal to the shell
first spot is the rear floor, i can fit a finger through the hole and touch the carpet
2. is some scabbing on the drivers side scuttle, hasnt made a hole but its bubbling under the paint
3. is the passenger front floor pan, again it hasn't got a hole but the carpet is a tad wet when it rains, have checked heater matrix and all is solid and there is some rust under the carpet
as im doing this welding I may aswell do alot more precautionary work like sills behind the kit as its a common water trap etc
So can anyone recommend where to get the floor pans from (if anyone actually makes them) or if i have to make them myself, what gauge steel do i need to repair it and what protection can i put on afterwards to make sure it does't happen again
Thanks in advance and ill get some pics up soon to show where i mean

To repair the floor you I think 1mm steel will be ok the material is a bit thicker on some parts of the inner sill, Some parts are still available from bmw not too pricey, Or find something on here being broken for parts.
Cut out the rust and don't leave any there even if it just looks a little bit get rid of it.
Do a search you will see lots of threads on rust.

im currently reading through a few full resto threads to gain some insight into how theyve done it and a few tricks/tips
ive got two mates that are professional welders so at least one will be helping out even though i can do basic welding myself.Need a new front panel too as ive seen that the lower part that the oil cooler bolts to has rusted away and the cooler was held on by only one mount.

Almost all of those repairs are covered by the resto in my sig. I used 1mm steel in some places (inner wings) and 0.8mm in others (standard thickness for BMW steel). My thread also covers all the chemicals I used during the process.
