I have an Alpine white E30 touring with genuine black hella and stock taillights with orange signals. Because of the orange signals at the rear i wanted to put orange signals at the front too, but slightly smoked to match with the black hella too. So, i found a set of genuine smoked hella lenses with the orange filters. So the combination looked very good before i installed it on the car. Just like that:

Unfortunately when i installed them on the car they looked a lot darker than on the picture, before the install. And i have to bow on the height level of the turn signals to see the effect of the orange filters. Otherwise, from different angle they look too dark, like i've smoked the indicators with those cheap black sprays for lights.
My bulbs are clear, not orange if that matters. Also the reflector, the lenses and the filters were cleared very well before installing them.
So as i said, i'm looking for slightly smoked orange indicators. I've just saw an E30 with indicators like what i want, so i believe there is a way to do it. It looked something similar with that:

My questions are:
1. Have anyone tested the combination of clear (non-smoked) lenses with the orange filters at the back. Maybe this is what i'm looking for?
2. Do you think the problem can be from the clear, non-orange bulbs. If i put orange bulbs maybe the orange effect will be more visible?
Also i'm opened to other ideas of lense/filter/bulb combinations that will look good on an white touring with black hellas
