1984 323i Auto. Been parked for 3 years, still on the 1st original owner, air con & cruise (but not much else). Looks a very solid original specimen. Will reveal more after a proper poke around tomorrow.

I had a quick perv at it ( i took the above pic) when I left a note for the owner. Have seen it for years tucked away in a private courtyard in York as I walk past it nearly every day. The owner sounds like a wedged up proper old sort.

I couldn't see any rust on it when I looked over it and gave the arches a quick grope, so she could be a properly solid non-sunroof specimen....

The fact it's been parked up with the wipers on tells a tale, surely :P

I suspect the owner will have a inflated idea of its value, however :(

Yes I think the number plate will be the tough point for the seller, cant see them wanting to sell the car with it and they cant take it off if no mot!

£5k plus for the plate I reckon.

Have made my bid for the car, a bit of haggling needed yet

One possible option for the plate is to agree to transfer it back when you have obtained an MoT...assuming you are not buying for the plate!

What would be the plan for this one then? Are you still looking to do a drag build?

This will be paedo'd and run for a bit before being sold. I can't be arsed with projects / engine swaps any more.

The arches on this mo go are spotless and only minor surface corrosion underneath. It was only running on 5 pots when started. Will post some pics later.

Here are a few pics I took. Bodywork wise, it's very good on the top side and needs a wash and a polish. Arches are all tip top.

Few bits of corrosion underneath and the front jacking points have been done before (but are stil there).

Not sure what to do really.

The snag with this turd is the distributor based ignition.
A manual 323i will struggle to better 25mpg,the auto-box will reduce this to low 20's at best.

If I were buying,I would be converting to Motronic very quickly!

Or an M52..... winkeye

It wants leaving well alone. I ran a 323i auto in Hamburg 10-11 years ago. Not fast but lively enough. I reckon Lee will get used to it and hang on to it. 5 pots is no big deal - get it trailered down here for a good sorting and an MOT.

Lee I can get hold of a trailer for beer money. :D

Could drag it back to your drive for some mot action.
