For some reason I can't get the filler plug on the diff to stop leaking...

I changed the diff oil about 2 months ago and since then it's been slowly pissing from there. And by the way, I haven't overfilled it, as when you take out the filler plug, no oil comes out.

Went down to BMW the other day and bought a new plug with a new washer, put them on today and it's STILL leaking?

Some pics for you:

The silver ring you can see around the top plug is the original washer that was on the car, before I changed oil. I wouldn't think it's genuine BMW, but you can clearly see it's a lot wider...

The original plugs are 10mm, but the new ones are 14mm, although they fit perfectly. Also new ones got a green rubber ring on them, but originals don't have anything...

I've heard people put RTV on the threads, so is that my only option, or I'm doing something wrong?

P.S. Drain plug is ok.

get some plumbers tape the white tape (PTFE) rap it round tight about half way on the threads about 3-4 times

Also, when you've wrapped the threads with the PTFE, hold the threads with your finger and thumb and turn the head clockwise. If the tape comes off the threads you need to take it off and wrap it in the opposite direction so that as you're screwing it in it's effectively tightening the tape onto the threads.

About 8 Wraps should do it,

Hope this helps!

Bought some white plumbers tape the other day and wrapped it around the plug 2-3 times, now it seems the leak is gone, but I've got a feeling it's still there but a VERY slow one...

Should've wrapped the bugger a couple more times, yet it's much better now :)
