This car hasn't just had 1 owner, people's attention to detail and want for complete OEM'ness changes and the last owner prob thought sod £1700 for another Alpina exhaust.

I could photo the stamp and get alpina to send me over conformation but why do I feel quizzed haha

Then the car is not what it's meant to be.
Regardless of what is on the prrof paper.
If substandard parts have been put onto the car.

I would disagree as the only difference is the exhaust. The main vital parts are there, Cam Ecu etc.

Could some one change the title of my build thread to (mostly Alpina Sport but not exhaust so not really and alpina sport anymore)

No need to get defensive.
I come from another manufacturers foruwm.
There is no way someone would not put an original exhaust system on a car this old due to the originality of the car.
Looks to me like the car has been in the wrong hands before you.
Therefore how do you know it has the original insides?
On other forums, certain cars have had the inside of the engine workIngs stripped and sold on as origional spec.
Therfore being not as they seem.
And not worth anymore than a normal car.

Well all the engine numbers etc line up to what it is ment to have so it's unlikely some one would take out the cam. But I suppose you will never know.

Personally I will always modify a car to my taste. I'm not planning on restoring this to exact manufactures standards. Just as good as I can.

That's what I meant.
Stripping the cam, pistons, crank can be done leaving the block as is.
So the new buyer will the think it is a genuine article.
But too many people get done this way.
I know of two guys who brought cars with matching engine numbers only to find out the internals had been changed.
And if a simple exhaust could not be paid for, then I doubt the rest is in order.
