So I'm in the process of changing the suspension on my car. This is how it stands at the moment - standard setup, quite high at the front but not so high at the back.

I didn't answer the post which asked if there was anyone under 40 and I'm far more at the lazy end of the way I like to drive so I'm after something a little lower but still with an amount of comfort.

I've read around and thought about this and want to stay with a factory setup as much as possible so would like to go for MTEC springs and dampers (at least that's the plan unless it's really comedy money). I've got a quote for the springs (which was ok) but not the dampers as yet but I'm not 100% sure of what my shopping list should be.

Looking at realoem.com and working out which items are listed for cars with MTEC setup, it looks like the bits I need are:

12/1991 E30 325i Convertible M20 Europe Right hand drive Automatic
Production Code: BB22

Front

For vehicles with
Air conditioning
ONLY APPLIES TO M TECHNIC
01 COIL SPRING 2 09/1989 31331131330 $144.14 Cat=Yes

ONLY APPLIES TO M TECHNIC
02 SHOCK ABSORBER-INSERT F+S GAS 2 31321133560 $206.56

ONLY APPLIES TO M TECHNIC
11 Additional damper, front 2 31331133513 $19.12

Rear

ONLY APPLIES TO M TECHNIC
01 Shock absorber, rear F+S GAS 2 33521132123 $165.86

For vehicles with
M TECHNIC SPORTS SUSPENSION
01 SET COIL SPRINGS 1 09/1987 33539058543 $238.54

There aren't any other bits on the suspension pages that are listed as MTEC only so I think I've got that covered.

I don't have the facilities to change them myself so spoke to the mechanic that will be doing it and he wasn't sure whether the springs / shocks would go onto the front struts or not but realoem doesn't list any different struts for the MTEC so I'm inclined to believe that they'll be ok.

Does anyone have any experience of this? If so any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

M-Tec springs new from BMW are going to be expensive, think they quoted me over £400

I think Bilstein do a kit which includes shocks and springs for that sort of money.

Your anti-roll bars will be the same thickness as M-Tec if not thicker so no need to upgrade those just refresh the drop links if need be.

When you start pricing up drop links, control arms, shocks, springs, mounts, bushes it can get expensive. If you can though, do it all in one go.

Cheers - Cotswolds quoted £311 for the springs. There weren't any different anti-roll bars listed (or any of the other bits) so from what I can see it's just the springs, dampers and damper inserts that are needed.

There are a lot of people with the bilsteins but it might be more of a drop than I'm looking for so I'm going to try to persevere with the MTEC setup for now.

My cabbie is on M-tec springs and Borge sport dampers(as speced to suit the M-tec springs)

Springs from BMW via my local dealer, dampers from GSF..but...there were few left when I bought.
M-tec springs lower by around 15mm and are a touch stiffer than stock.
