It would appear that there are some sad sadomasochistic individuals in the world.

Why would you have one of the best drivers cars in the world and not drive it.......

And what exactly can you say to that? :D It doesn't look like it's done even a mile. Looking in his garage, it looks has he has other M3's so i guess he could be forgiven for wanting to keep one fresh for when the Marsian's come down to Earth then he can show them one of our finest cars ever built  :D

Yeah, i believe it got tore apart (engine replaced etc) and made into a track car and then the new owner got bored with it (changes his cars more often than his underpaants) - just wanted to own such a car for a while, so was being or has been sold to someone who I think wants to return it to it`s original state.

It`s a shame, but he bought the car so it was up to him what he did with it. Pity BMW or a great enthusiast didn`t step in and buy it though originally.

I know someone who was trying to buy it but they was not prepaired to import it.

The engine has been changed and it has loads of other tacky mods from what i hear. If my mate had got hold it it you can be sure it would still be perfect!

As many above. Its a complete waste!

BMW themselves have a mint example. And thats fine. All cars are are tools. I don't go in for naming them or referring to it as a personality. Its just a machine, which I get enjoyment from operating.

People who collect for the sake of collecting are fools.

Here here....but if it was still in that condition, think how much that car would be worth in ten or twenty yrears time...

Ive wound my mate up a few times about putting his in a plastic bubble because he was always polishing or cleaning it, that said though....gotta admit he does give it a proper beasting when the times right :D :D

i disagree.

its lovely to see an example like this, as it offsets the balance of all the other scrap m3"s out there. most have been molested for track use etc.

fantastic car. shame to hear its ruined. :(

Without collectors there would not be fine examples of any cars left.

If everyone had that attitude you would never see any of the old ferrari's or other amazing cars and IMO that would be a shame.

My friend who was going to buy this car has an amazing collection of cars, he can afford it so why not. Although he makes a point of using all of them.

Stunning car. Dont think Ive ever seen one as clean as that. It is a pity that it didnt get used though. Would be nice to keep it mint like that yet still drive it when the weather was good.

1) First off. I cannot compare an M3 to a Pedigress supercar. e.g. Lamborghini Muira. We're talking a mass produced Car. Well over 18K of them vs a handbuilt car of less than 900.

As Jay Kay once said on Top Gear. "You lock them away and the kids today never see them". How many kids go to museums to look at former supercars? Not many, but if they saw a Muira come past their Mums Focus Diesel. They'll be interested. And they'll maybe look up the history and learn to appreciate them. Everyone can remeber the first time they saw that Ferrari F40 on the Motorway or a Diablo parked outiside the supermarket.

2) As for the history, let the factories and museums worry about the Show cars. And if they don't want to it tells you something about the car. The owners should get on with the business of driving them! If you want to put a car on display, and polish it once a week. But a model one!

Cars are NOT sentimental things. They are machines. Beutiful machines even. But they only achieve true beauty doing what they were designed to do. Not sitting waiting for their chance to shine. Imagine having the worlds greatest Tool Set. Ԛ£100K worth of Snap On tools. But you never used them and kept them shiny. Its pointless in the extreme!

Rich has a valid point. I'd rather use my car, I dont need a car I can get around without one, so why have I managed 10000 pleasure miles in 5 months? I dont use it for my job only to drive about in after work and weekends but still have use of the work van.

But then again I wouldnt have a fiesta for that, I've been there done that it's an a-b car the e30 is an A via Z to C car and if it was an M3 I reakon I would have racked up more miles than I have in mine!!
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!
