whats the most likely reason for my rev counter to not work??

got my old sport back recently but rev counter no longer works????
what should I be checking first?

also got earth issues needles jump about when indicating etc
earth points seem clean and ok

lots of little probs to solve sadly :(

Wiki needs a change. Most common cause of no rev. counter is duff SI batteries, followed by C101 problems, but usually because it hasn't been screwed fully back together, rather than corrosion.
