hi, got a 87/88 e30 320i with sticking fuel gauge. car had been sitting for quite a few years and the sender was very gummed up. also one of the really small wires that runs down it inside between the terminals was broken. my question is, would i be able to replace or resolder the wire to get it working to save a bit of cash instead of buying a new one. cheers scott.

Simple answer is no. It's a special resistive wire, so any bodge you do will affect the internal resistance, which will send a duff reading to the gauge.

To be fair I would try it any how a inaccurate fuel gauge is better than no gauge.
