Hi Guys
Still trying to get my car running 110%. I know it might sound strange but my car is perfect one minute and then I start her say a couple of days later and is very spluttery when started and then seems to clear.
The car had a brand new Fuel tank , Fuel pump ( bosch /vdo ) and fuel sender about 2 and a bit years ago.
I was wondering if the pump is failing maybe? ( Seems strange though as its not that old and in fairness has done fook all miles. )
The only reason i mention the fuel side of things is that the pump is making some unusual noises and doesnt seem to be as quiet as it used to be.
Could this maybe why i am having this problem ?
Car has no air leaks and no fuel leaks.

Invest in one of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fuel-Pressure ... 27d4747629 and a few inches of fuel hose, connect it up, and you'll know for sure if it's a fuel supply problem or not.

Can't see that it matters in the slightest!
I see the ad. is also wrong in stating that it's suitable for carb. engines. The fuel line pressure on any carb. engine I've worked on wouldn't hardly move a 100PSI gauge off of its stop.

I take it you connect it in line to see the pressure coming through ?

Yes. Many fuel rails have a Schrader valve on them to connect a pressure gauge, but there's no provision on E30s.gingerrusta wrote:I take it you connect it in line to see the pressure coming through ?

So best to connect it up on the fuel hose and add another piece of hose so I can see the pressure going through while running or just turning over ?

Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel rail, connect it to the tee piece, connect a piece of spare hose to the other side of the tee, and connect the other end of that to the fuel rail. Pressures will be 40 PSI+, so hose clips are required.
Measure the pressure as you crank it, with the engine running, and for a day after its switched off.
