my P/S front window motor has given up the ghost, do i need to buy a convertible one or will a 2, 4 door or touring one work??
I have checked the swtich and it still works fine and the motor is getting 12v so fairly sure its a motor i need.

IIRC they can be disassembled and freed up with a bit of lube if you can't find a spare.
Be aware that facelift ones are different to pre (loom connection), and that if you try and use a rear motor on a front door or vice versa, the motor needs to be separated from its gearbox.
I put a front motor in a rear door, and it works upside down
(down is up). No idea how or why, but there was no motor there when I bought the car and no signs of bodging on the loom.

to get the window back up i seperated the silver metal bit (motor?) from the black plastic bit (grear box) which gave me enough play to pull the window back up, the motor is making no sound at all when it gets a live feed so would not have thought i could free it up?Grrrmachine wrote:IIRC they can be disassembled and freed up with a bit of lube if you can't find a spare.
