I was just wondering what is really the limmit of power you can put in a cabby as I have been thinking for weeks about the 2jz but I think it will just buckle the car and weigh too much so I thort get a sr20 with about 300bhp but I had a astra convertible before with 300bhp so realy I would like for my cabby to have abit more I just don't know what to do

why not try a Baur if you want big power and wind in your hair? Stiffer yet lighter than the saloons...

What engine and diff does your car have? I'm running a stock m20b25 with a 3.64 open diff and it is plenty quick enough for the type of car. It launches well off the line and gets up to speed easily although being an older car the performance of them is a bit lacking compared to modern stuff. Most of the 'easy' swaps are covered in the engine swap section, they are however anything but easy.
As I said earlier though too, the cab is much more a cruising around car than a speed and handling demon, part of this is down to the extra weight of them due to strengthening as you're missing a roof for structural integrity.
I'm guessing as your mates have 1.2 Corsas though that you have a smaller engine.
When I say earlier I mean in another extremely similar thread....

while by modern standards a stock e30 is not massively fast, but as final d says the 325i is still 8seconds which is easily capable of seeing of a 1.2 corsa.
whats your engine size?

id say get it running right, give it a proper service, injectors, dizzy, cap, coil pack, plugs everything!
i sorted my m20 engine out and its really not that bad, it shifts when it needs to! and can without a doubt leave a 1.2 corsa in the dust and most other cars with a good start and a lsd,
i pretty much kept side by side with a civic type r, 4k start dumped the clutch, he coudnt really pull away,

There's a member here from Finland who's done all sorts to his cab, I think it's a V8 which he also drifts

Thanks mate because I don't want to spend let's a lot of money on a big engine to find out the chassie twists and I don't want to spend lots of money on a small engine to find out I could of spent that on a biger engine as the chassie won't twist

It was a standerd astra coupe convertible z20let yeahh the engine was good ran too much boost thru it tho hit 17-18 psi and blew it everyone else was running 300 bhp but I turned up boost as soneone in a lambo pulled up next to me laffing and next thing I knew the turbo oil seal went big puff of smoke lost power and I was lucky but lost but I raced one before and kept up with him to 100mph but then he left me and I thort let's try again and I refurbed turbo but forgot about turning the boost down and blew the engine so I brought a 325 cabby but how I wish it had more power

There are plenty of people running lots of power in their cabs but with heavily reinforced shells !Kos wrote:There's a member here from Finland who's done all sorts to his cab, I think it's a V8 which he also drifts
tbh if I was going for real power, I would want a tin top with a cage !

I know of a cab with an e36 s50 in it, 300 odd bhp, and reportedly pretty scary to drive.
doesnt sound like much fun to me to be honest.
