Now I understand everyone has different taste of the ride suspension setup with that said I begin with this:
I like to have comfort and still be able to cut a corner when required

I do not want the ride so low that I crack my sump every time trying to clear a Speed hump (20mph atleast lol).
Now i've heard pretty good reviews of the H&R Cup-kits F60/R40 and I am so close to getting them so hence I thought I have a quick look around before I do.
What is the best suspension kit for an E30 Cabrio ?
Thanks guys,
Q

I would avoid a 60/40 drop on a cab I ran -40mm all round on mine which felt too low and I couldn't get a trolley jack under the car. If I was to do it again I would go with MTECH (-15mm) springs with either boge turbo or blistein dampers.

the cab recommended setup is usually eibach springs, with bilsien b4's - but ive got b8's and find that better and more controlled over speed bumps

-35 is the better cup kit drops about 40mm and gives a good ride E30's also need uprated arb's and a strut brace to feel really taut.

i lowered mine on 30mm eibach springs with the standard sport springs and it drives just right for road use and corners pretty well too

A refreshed standard mtec setup is very hard to beat IMO.

Just a quick question then if I was to put coilovers on my cab would the car be to low for Normal road use, as it is not a track car and they are the fully adjustable gaz ones

The hints in the fully adjustable bit as to how low they are...
But if its not for track there is no point, when was the last time you fancied adjusting to suspension on your road car exactly? And especially on a cab

I think you'd be mad to put coilovers, or anything stiff, on a cab unless you just want to cruise to shows.
A cab is not designed for throwing down a twisty road, they're no where near as stiff as a saloon despite all the additional strengthening.
The 'best' setup for a cab would be new standard spec bushes, new mtech spec dampers and either standard mtech springs, or slightly lowered springs from a reputable manufacturer like h&r or eibach.
go lower if you like, but you'll need to be a lot more careful about how you drive it, and will need shorter dampers to match. Just don't go stiff or it'll just accentuate the scuttle shake.
cheers,
harry

This is my setup on my cab at the moment it is sitting on 17s with b8 and I think they are 40mm Jamex springs or 30mm but to me it seems to high on the back that is why I was going to change and have my coilovers fitted so I get some off the rim covered this is how it looks at present

Well with your very choice selection of mods I'm sure coilovers won't ruin it any more

Would suggest
- check bushes are not too out of shape
- Eibach
- Bilstein or Sachs/Boge gas shocks
- front strut brace
- E46 cab rear shock mounts.
Cabs need different spec stuff to the standard E30, so whatever you do end up getting make sure that it is actually for a cab and not the saloon and also I'm sure anything for a 316 will have a narrower shock diameter. The cab is 51mm IIRC.
They can be a bit like the starship enterprise - when you push em too much you'll start hearing scotty in your head saying "she canna take much more captain".

Will more likely be a worn rubber guibo on the steering shaft.

no, but if you have a cab then you'll not regret fitting it anyway.

Right chaps I have a 91 cabby 325i with borbet b's 16x9 all round with 205/40/zr16. I want to drop the car low enough that the arches just sit above the tyre.
Was thinking h&r cup kit 60/40mm but some have said maybe to low and to go for 35/30mm instead any help would be great coz need to sort it out asap.
P.s have had the arches rolled by paul from archenemy .....top bloke
Thanks
Ozzy

I'm after exactly this, I think I've identified the parts that are needed but would like to confirm before I take the plunge and get the bits.
I've got a 325i standard facelift cabby with a/c there's a part number for front MTEC springs with a/c and the rear MTEC springs don't specify anything different. The front shocks seem to come in 2 parts, the shock absorber insert and an additional damper. The rear shocks come as a single unit.
Is this what I need or is there anything else?
Thanks in advance.
