Would 40mm still be ok for the original suspension parts? and that's a very nice car mate! would you recommend the spoiler and what leather is that?
And as for the Angel eyes, i personally thought they looked too modern for the e30 when i looked at them

Spoiler is M-tech 1, I like the look but price of them is shooting up. I would try and find one soon if you plan on putting one on your car.
The leather is tan/natural, I thought I was buying beige but it is a slightly darker hue. Still looks great with the door cards and the karmitrot paint.
I also added the tech 1 wheel and bbs, the wheels fill the arches better even at standard ride height. Other than that just a lot of detailing.

Waxoyl is what it's name suggests, a waxy oily mixture that is sprayed onto the underside and into the cavities where rust is likely to take a hold.
It's pretty good at repelling moisture away from the panel, but there may be better products such as Dinitrol (albeit at three times the cost).
I've used it on a few of my cars, including my first two E30s, and it seems to do a pretty good job of resisting the dreaded rust, but you need to repeat the process every few years, as it does tend to get eroded away in high impact areas.
It is available from most motor factors, Halfords, etc., or cheaper online from the likes of Amazon, E-bay, etc.

Just ordered some new polishing pads and some chrome polish
Good luck with it mate. I don't want to clutter up your thread with pics of my car. Point is, it's just like yours. A sub 1k, standard 316 two door - doesn't take much to get them looking nice.
Carbs 'n Chrome
Waxoyl is like product like thick oil that you paint/ spray on that has rust killer in it and prevents new rust forming.Junglistjed wrote:whats is it, an underseal? and are they worth the upgrade?
As said avoid the angel eyes. If you want to do anything with the lights then fit some later type smileys and put some hid's in them.

Im hoping for as little as possible, there is none of the exterior, none in the arches and none in the boot floor so hopefully the underneath is ok!

No, I did it on a driveway, just jacking it up where necessary. Best to do it in summer, as it sprays far easier then.Junglistjed wrote:I will have to get myself some mate, where's the best place to buy it? and did you just put the car up on a garages lift for an hour so you could get underneath?

Easiest place to get it is Halfords, but they're not the cheapest, so you may want to shop around.

You can use that - it's convenient, and ideal for small areas, but for the underside and inside sills, etc, you should buy at least 5 litres of the stuff, and use the sprayer kit:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WAXOYL-under- ... 1449wt_886
Or, better still, use an air line compressor and dedicated spray gun.

Just the one reasonably thick coat should be adequate, but if you have some left over, use it on the most vulnerable areas such as underside of sills, wheelarches, etc.

Remove the door cards, and spray inside the doors. Also try and get some as far into the inner sills and chassis legs if you can, plus the underside of the bulkhead (scuttle panel), and into the sunroof rails (if fitted), and inner rear arches, as these are all well-known rot spots on E30s.
See the E30 Zone Wiki on 'Rust' to get an idea of where to protect.
Take care to ensure that any drain holes in the bottom of doors, chassis legs, etc., are clear afterwards though; you may have to wait a couple of days for excess Waxoyl to drain out first.

Inner sills, not seals!
See the Zone 'Rust' guide for pics:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Rust
Waxoyl won't harm wiring, but for sake of appearance, you may want to mask off the loom and any other parts that are 'on show'.
It doesn't really 'dry' as such, but when first sprayed on, it is usually runny because you have to spray it on fairly warm, and as it settles on the panels, it will cool off and develop a waxy coating.
Take care not to accidentally spray it on the trim or carpets, as it's fairly tricky to remove - keep some white spirit and rag handy to wipe off any overspray.
Any that drips onto your driveway (and it probably will for a couple of days after you apply it), just mop it up and wipe it over the underside areas.
It is available in both clear and black - beware, the black stuff is *very* messy, and quite hard to wash off your hands!

Thanks mate
car is being picked up tomorrow so ill order some of this stuff, still need to buy wheels and springs etc
Good man, be sure its clean before you apply the waxoyl, if you have a pressure washer then you may want to give each area a good wash first and leave it a couple of days to let the water dry out fully. You'll be surprised how much mud will come out!

Just picked it up and have a few questions, my dad drove it back as he has the insurance for it and he said it drove well other than the steering feeling weird?
Also, the chrome surround on the front windshield isn't in the greatest condition, could it be polished up or would it be better to buy a whole new surround?
cheers guys

Slack steering is probably down to a worn rubber guibo that fits in the steering linkage near the exhaust manifold:
http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Steering
Try using some Autosol chrome polish on the trim, but in many cases, they can only be improved by either replacing them with a new or better one or spraying them with chrome paint, followed up by clear lacquer.

BMW dealer may be your best bet - price ranging from £10-£50, according to these guys:
http://www.bavarian-board.co.uk/forum_p ... n-surround
Alternatively, try asking Cotswolds on here, or there's always E-bay:
