Not got the time to do it myself and need the car on the road ASAP.
Around £150 for a full job then.

Local garage has had a quick look and says there is more than 1 leak. Too much dirt to see exactly where from so going to give it a jet wash underneath tomorrow and see what's what.
Most likely sump gasket and he said flywheel is leaking as well
I'm thinking of just changing the engine for another one, probably cost about the same as sorting out the leaks

Sounds like a long winded way to sort a couple of oil leaks.
Your lucky to get an M20 without oil leaks.

My m20 is completely oil tight! It took a lot of gaskets and two oil filter housing kits but it holds its oil.
Now the steering rack leaks instead :-\

I found it alot easier than i thought
Loosen both engine mounts lift the engine slightly and its just a case of undoing and swapping for another and re tighten
I used gasket paste and a new gasket

Highly unlikely to be any flywheel (=rear crank seal) leak as well.ImysE30 wrote: Most likely sump gasket and he said flywheel is leaking as well![]()
The way the M20 sump gasket is arranged tends to give this impression when it fails.
If you use any kind of sealant on the gasket (it's not needed), then use it VERY sparingly, especially if it's of the silicon rubber type. The excess gets squeezed out inside and form little balls that are perfect for blocking your oil pick up filter.

Should I get a new sump gasket from BMW or are the one's from GSF/ECP okay to use?

GSF/ECP one's should be OK. There's not a 'problem' as such with M20 sump gaskets - it's just after 20+ years they have compressed to nothing and have turned brittle.

The oil level light works too, it comes on bang on halfway down the dip stick.
