I bought a pair of batteries this spring, one for the cabbie and one for me boat
from my local Partco, now called 'Unipart' I think. Two prices were offered for the same item, depending on if I chose a two or three year warranty.Being a known tight git,I took the two year warranty,of course!
Both batteries are performing well.

I'd just look on ECP or CP4L websites. They usually have deals for batteries on their homepage..

Lion batteries are actually made by Exide, I'm yet to see a ''faulty unit'' come back thats actually failed.sweep wrote:Lion is the way for council.
Bosch don't actually make batteries, they just buy them and stick labels on them - Exide is where the smart money goes.
Exide manufacter batteries themselves and are cheaper than Bosch, and always more powerful than the Bosch equivalent battery type. better value all round!

I used to be a big fan of BMW batteries till the price went up, the quality went down and any warranty dramas involved booking the car into the dealer and if ANY electrical issues are found, you pay for the fitterz AND a new battery

What happened to your Avatar ?
This reminds me I got a AA battery in the CS which the previous owner had got put in because the previous battery ran flat. I am assuming because he didn't do many miles. I want to replace with Genuine BMW Battery to achieve the brand new factory fresh look
Will this AA battery work in E30 325i
?

Dunno, it does it occasionally!
The battery should be fine as long as the terminals are the correct way round, check the power ratings too. for a minute I thought you were asking if a double A battery would work!

My E30 325i had an Exide battery in it when it was given to me 9 years ago.
That Exide battery is still going strong today.... I have no idea how old it is but considering that the car had been stood a year and an half when it was given to me I am sure that it is nearly 11 years old an functioning perfectly.

There is a 10/10 rating system here for batteries, strangly marks the exide 7/10 ...weird that

Weird how thats their own ratings and not their customers too, unlike pretty much every website out there these days!ravstar13 wrote:There is a 10/10 rating system here for batteries, strangly marks the exide 7/10 ...weird that

I'd bet money they give the batteries with the highest margin % the highest ratings. I'd also bet money they don't buy as much from Exide as they do the cheaper brands so they won't get as good a discount.

maybe the zone should set up a section where we rate certain important items, for example service parts ....it could be beneficial to a lot of people like me who do not know the ins and outs of every product.

Thats a pretty good idea actually. When I was able to ship parts out to zoners I was trying to think of the best way to start a thread with the most popular parts, brand options and prices etc for those amongst us not in the know or in the trade, but it was actually harder than it sounds and also very time consuming!ravstar13 wrote:maybe the zone should set up a section where we rate certain important items, for example service parts ....it could be beneficial to a lot of people like me who do not know the ins and outs of every product.
Gave up in the end and now I just drink tea all day

No chance of re-establishing a zone account yet then Matt ?
Maybe some sort of exclusive club where you have to prove you're not a bellend who's going to foook it up for everyone else before you can join ?

I'm still not able to ship parts by courier anymore and never will be. A few zoners have offered to arrange couriers themselves on larger orders recently which I appreciated very much! Steve and I have contacted the relevant dept several times this year and are still waiting for a response. Anyone from the zone can walk into my branch at Kettering and buy their parts on the account still.
Truth is anyone can get a very good deal on most parts they need online nowadays, so wether you buy through the E30zone acount or the website makes no difference really! I just miss looking after the account and taking all your money!
