How much are some parts worth?

Hi All

Been signed up for a long while but only recently had time to spend time with my E30. I will post in the introductions I think.

My post may be somewhat strange but I have been searching the forums (not for long) to find what some parts are worth to give me an idea.

I have some bits and pieces I need to shift and wondered what was the best way to get the most for them and not get fleeced so to speak.

So if I posted up some pics here, would that be a good idea and would I get some honest ideas.

I couldn't put an accurate price on it but I do know it's some good stuff you've got there and worth a tidy sum.

Everyone is after 4 x 100 16" RS's at the moment. Take the time to find out their market value so as not to undersell them. The kit looks in good nick too.

the metzeler kit is aftermarket but still worth way over £500 complete, I sold one recently for £1200,

the wheels should fetch over £1300, IIRC Rav sold his for £1600 over 2 years ago

Over £1300 even though the bolts are rusted and the wheels need to be refurbished?

I believe Rav's set was mint as far as I can remember (don't quote me on it)

Spilt rims are not like standard wheels which are cheap to refurbish.

The bolts alone will cost more then £40

Also a cheap job on these wheels will just ruin them. Have them done properly when having them done, I am sure someone here will point you in the right direction.

Put everything on Ebay with an accurate description and lots of pics and let the market decide. You will make a tidy return on what the bits cost you 15 years ago, that is for sure !

You may be better off selling them at a price which is fair to you and a buyer who is willing to spend the time, resources and enthusiasm into getting them to their full potential, otherwise you could spend £££ and not see a return on your investment. They are still very desirable as they are, sit tight and I'm sure you'll get plenty of interest in their current condition.

The RS's would look truly outstanding if they were refurbed so any suggestions for companies to go and get a quote from would be greatly appreciated.

As for the kit, Ebay maybe the way to go to get market price, with a reserve of course....

Listing fees, ebay's final value percentage, the cost of receiving a Paypal payment, the cost of withdrawing money from Paypal...

All added up to about 13% of the sale price last time I sold something

DO NOT refurbish the wheels ! It will cost a lot to do it PROPERLY and will not net you any more money. Most people would rather buy them for less in their virgin state and then refurbish them to their spec / taste. There is also the very real risk that the refurber may ruin them , it happens

Put the items on Ebay as a ten day auction 99p start, no reserve and get a mate to place a bid for the least amount you are happy with a few days into the auction and let the auction run to the end. Obviously you will have loads of chancers offering you £300 CASH NOW ! Ignore them and wait for some serious offers from people who can collect with cash. Selling through an Ebay auction will cost you 10% final value fees plus any Paypal fees that you may incur and you do not really want to be sending high value stuff like this to strangers who have paid by paypal . It can and does sometimes end badly, usually for the seller......

Ebay is a great way of getting maximum exposure for very little initial cost. If this can be turned into an outside Ebay cash deal, even better !
