hi all i have a e30 m52b28...first time having it out yesterday and its limitering at around 5300 revs. what could be the reasons for this?

speed input to ecu 100% wasn't wired up

As above, have you wired the road speed signal to the ecu, the ecu needs to know how fast the vehicle is traveling. The symtoms you describe highlight this as a posibility, have you checked for fault codes? Check both the above.

Did you get it sorted? Im having a similar problem but not revving past 4000, well it splutters after 3000 to 4000rpm badly.

I'm goin for the speed signal thing that everyone has suggested but as far as I've got is finding out what wire it is from ecu. Maybe get to it tomorrow night.

Hope you get it sorted mate. I been having probs for the past 2 weeks, with misfires which was camshaft sensor to missing which was a bad coil pack but the bimmer still not revving past 4000rpm
I think its different to yours? But I will let you know when I get it sorted & may help you
