hoshy how long was the ban mate?
I got busted speeding last year 121mph on the a14 6 points and a 300quid fine (bit of a result) my laywer told me though the most they can ban you for speeding now is 3 months (unless its through getting 12 points)and more often than not they give you points to try and stop you doing it any more

If the offence is drink driving they can at thier discretion offer you a drink drive rehabilitation course and that knocks 25% off the length of the ban, telling the court you need the car for work wont make any differance the minimum for drink drive is 12 months (reduced to 9 if you go on the course). As for speeding I dont believe the longest ban is three months, in very extreme case's you could be sent down (I've Known it happen). There are a few mistaken myths about the penalties involved in driving offences and they can be far more severe than people realise. I see people getting band for drink driving every working day of the week, it still amazes me !

Told them and they accepted that I wasn't actually out of control. My court provided legal aide told the court how it was a rear wheel drive car in wet conditions and that I'd done a BMW better driving day. Worked out fine in the end.
I'm looking forward to the year without the car. I can save money and hopefully get the beast (or another e30) in tip top condition.

it stays on your licence for 11 years but most insurance only asks about the last 5, or in 1 case i've seen 3, years.
you can do trackdays if they don't ask for a licence! if they ask for a licence, i'm yet to determine if they will accept a banned one (because at the end of the day they want to know that you have learnt to drive a car, and don't care if you are banned or not).

I took my car off the road last night... drive 200 miles home then got the train back.. nightmare journet but on the last 40miles I did ack roads instead of motorway and ragged the fu#cking shit out of the car so hard... she was flying like never before... 110 down back roads then down into the corners, swift heal&toe for a sweet exit.. I was in heaven all the way.. scared myself a little but was amazing!

yeah 9 months isnt long, my friend just served his 12 month, and seemed like the other month... you got off lightly my mate wasnt speeding or anything, just drink driving, and got full 12 months no offer of rehab and a hefty fine lol
over a ton is an instant ban, unless the copper charging you does you a favour and says you were under 100, and a maximum 3 months?. ive never heard of that as ive seen bikers sent down for a year(yes a year in prison) for speeding and Dangererous drivingpaulj wrote:hoshy how long was the ban mate?

Wayne Soman, a 32-year-old carpenter, strapped a video unit to the petrol tank of his 900cc Kawasaki, waved to the camera, then sped off to cover 45miles in 25 minutes, the Mirror reported on Saturday.
The speed-loving biker had fitted his machine with an hydraulic device so he could flick the rear number plate sideways to avoid identification on police cameras.
Soman swerved around blind corners on mountain roads at 100mph, raced through streams of traffic at 125mph and topped 150mph, police told a court in Swansea, Wales. The normal British speed limit outside of town is 60mph.
Police eventually stopped him at a checkpoint, set up after the deaths of four speeding bikers the previous weekend. Constable David Jones spotted the camera on the tank -- which had been switched off a kilometre before -- and replayed a three-minute clip at the roadside. It had been angled to show the speedometer and rev counter, as well as the road ahead.
He was sentenced to a year in prison.

What we need is a special code word or phrase to mean 'a potentially license losing offence'. I have three suggestions, feel free to add your own as you see fit.
So rather than saying 'I was driving over 100mph' you could write
a) I was driving at less than -100mph
b) I was walking down the M42 at over 100mph
c) I was driving recklessly
Admittedly the third one isn't all that great, but you get the idea.

I really would'nt worry about saying how fast you've driven, as any good soliciter will tell you "its not what you know but what you can prove that gets you in trouble". The fact is you can say you were driving at 160 mph, if theres no evidance to support this claim thats it. You could be lieing or have did it on a private airfield or race track.
