got a m52 or m50 going into my e30 touring 316 lux ,
after alot of research and scouting round e30 and driftworks etc, i have found people all seem to say different stuff on what i need etc,
i was under the understanding that the engine box ecu an loom would be needed an the rest i could use from the e30 316 such as diff shafts prop etc...

is this correct or ? also will the e36's engine catch the e30 i seen alot of ppl mention cutting a inch off etc and using e34 mounts to locate engine in same place?

thanks in advance

As always, more than one way to skin a cat. But the list on the wiki is pretty definitive and has been tried and tested many times.

I've used engine, loom, gearbox & prop, radiator (albeit a new one) and electric fan from an E36 donor.

You can't go wrong if you use the matching prop for whatever gearbox you use and match the diff ratio accordingly. E.g. E30 Getrag 240 box, use the matching prop and an E30 diff. E36 ZF box, use matching prop and a diff from a Z3/E30 M3, as E36 diff isn't a direct bolt on.

Engine bolts in just fine with E36 mounting arms and E28 mounts. Engine doesn't catch anything. This is probably people modifying the shell to deliberately move the engine backwards to improve weight distribution?
