refurbing my gear linkage and i just realised i ordered one that says on realoem from 1989,
i have a 2.5 engine, box and linkage pulled straight from a 86 car which went into a 90's model so i assume i have the older one pn no 13 in this link-
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=25&fg=05
however it differs to this one... which is a different pn,
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... =05&hl=118
is there really any difference or should i cancel and order the other one?
also in the link from 1989 i only ordered 7,2,14 and 19, that will do right just the main bits?
gearshift rod joint difference?

The difference is that the bush on the later rod joint is about 50% longer than on the early one, with the pin on the selector rod also lengthened to suit.
I was under the impression that the earlier one was obsolete, and whichever you ordered you got the later one- I can't see any reason why both versions should still be available, since the wear rate with the later version will be much less than with the earlier one.
The selector rod usually shows some wear as well, and needs replacing to do a complete job.
