Have had to take the cyclinder head off on my 325 and have realised that the engine is that badly worn its not worth putting back together
So this is my dilema
Do I : A rebuild the origional motor { which has already been done once in its life time}
B: do i look at fitting a 328 motor
C: cut my loses and sell as a project??
If any one has any thoughts would be happy to hear them pls
I have already spent alot on the car with lpg and stainless exhaust as well as 5 stud conversion and really enjoy driving the old beast
Cheers
Al

Depending on how good the body is...
1- If its a rusty turd sell as a project
2- if its a good one drop in another 325i as stated sell for around £300
3- go all out and up the power with an upgrade

On what evidence have you come to this conclusion?harvey_inc wrote:Have had to take the cylinder head off on my 325 and have realised that the engine is that badly worn its not worth putting back together
I feel rather too personal with about my Baur TC2 1987 325i. Lied to by previous seller, I later discovered horrific molestation (elaborate turbo manifold style exhaust, extensive rust, broke cam belt day after inspection, extensive damage to piston and valves, fire hazard wiring all around dash, and plenty rot everywhere). Now what I am rebuilding. And my mech says engineis a 323i! but the cylinder head is indeed 325i. There are atill a few about in here in Johannesburg (read too pricey for condition), but I bought the car because I loved it and am happily rebuilding engine and sanding down the body before sandblasting. In short, choose your poison...

Brian
The cam was worn very badly massive grooves in the lobes....
My thinking is that wear has to have gone somewhere
my aim is to get the rest of the engine out and strip it so I can see what the big ends look like
