power roof not going all the way

hi can anyone give me any ideas on how to get my roof to go into the back and the horseshoe to close completly i have only just brought the car so have very little knowledge so all help appreciated thanks

when you put all windows down ,moved sun visors when you press the button you have to give the roof a helping hand then the horse shoe lifts the window folds back at the rear and most of the time the roof goes back and fits into the opening but doesnt seem to fit all the way in seems to be 2" to big then the horse shoe closes not all the way as the roof sticking up above the opening hense the horseshoe cannot close it will go down a little after you drive around but never enough for the horseshoe to close completly hope this explains my problem thanks

Hi. Firstly, what you're describing is quite a common problem. I'd also like to mention, after putting the windows down and releasing the front securing latches, under the sun visors, you should ALWAYS push the roof back to begin.

If you don't do this and activate the switch to fold
It back, you are putting an enormous amount of pressure on the roof motors and linkages. You are lucky not to have broken something, already.

Your roof sounds like it is working fine. The problem may have something to do with the way the roof is actually folding. With some roofs, the tensioner straps are not pulling the front (first) fold so that it folds up (in an "n" shape) the correct way. It actually folds it going down in a "u" shape. This fold can catch on the rear headrests - if you have them fitted, but it also makes the roof "thicker" accounting for your 2", if you understand what I mean.

There is a thread on here were this problem is described, complete with pics and the
Solution. I will search for it on Monday, when I have my laptop (currently responding on my phone).

Sorting this out first, will allow the roof to be
More compact when it's folding into the storage compartment. This then should

Try that first, or confirm that that is what the roof is doing, after which we can talk about adjustment to the closing levers, if required.

tried what you suggested but when my mate came to help he showed me it was because the stiching has come undone on the roof hence the front of the roof is not folding correct causing the problem, looks like getting my new roof sooner than I thought .
