Car is a 1987 M10 318I Automatic.

Starts fine, but when I slow down for roundabouts etc, the engine had started to either cut out completely or hesitate.

When it just hesitates, it is then very reluctant to move off
normally under acceleration.

Fault seems to dissapear when car has been driven for a few miles

Also engine runs fine if started and is stationary.

Thanks for any help/advice.
Rob.

Have you cleaned out the idle control valve?

Also worth checking that the throttle cable is properly adjusted.

Think I've found the culprit.
Have a split in part No 15 of the below.

Oddly enough, car performed perfectly on a 40 mile drive today.

Will replace the hose and change Air and fuel filter while I'm at it.

Maurice, does this model use an ICV what with it being L - Jetronic, I think :?:

It does have an Idle valve, but it's not the same as motronic ICVs:

Car idles perfectly at 1000 rpm, Grrr, which I assume it wouldn't
if the Air valve was faulty, or would it?
