My baby just hit 90'000 miles

The car hasn't been clocked back but the low mileage engine has been changed from a tappety 316i to a M42 318is

It's had 9 careful owners too :D

Mine's just shy of 170k, had a touring last year with 220k on, but sure that's not the highest on here!

Red touring in my sig. was heading towards this kind of mileage when it was forcibly retired on a German autobahn a few years back, and that's not including the 40k 'haircut' it almost certainly had early in its life.
Engine still had all its ponies, consumed no significant amounts of fluids, apart from propane and was regularly worked hard.

Too many zeros....
43 700 000 000 000 millimetres = 27 153 921.1 miles
437 000 000 000 millimetres = 271 539.211 miles

Beer fueled internet based maths FTW :P

300 000 miles
That is very impressive :-)
Did it need any rebuilds to get to that :-) ?

Conversely I wonder who has the lowest mileage E30 on here :-) ?
65k seems quite low to me given the age.

Heres the thing, the car had 2 former keepers, one a chemical company, the next, the chap who worked for said company, it was his company car and he bought it off them. It had full BMW service up to about 260000, then specialists. The chap had followed the service lights religiously.

When I took the engine apart it was very clean there was no sludge at all. Every thing was within BMW new tolerance, Except for the valves, some of which had mushroomed where the rocker contacts them. The man told me the car had wanted very little major work through its life, a clutch, new rad etc. I believed him, but obviously have no cast iron proof, there was nothing in the extensive recipt collection. The thing that proved it to me was the fact the head was still bolted down using the early hex top head bolts, not the newer torx type. I honestly don't think the engine had been apart.

I used the pistons again in a 2.7, they were almost unmarked :D

I wish I hadn't taken it apart, just to see how far it could have gone, the top end did need a rebuild but it hadn't lost many horses, I know.
