Hi guys, I'm looking into swapping my m40 to a m50 lump and doing some parts research at the moment. Those are areas that are not clear to me.
from what I read on here I will need:
- e36 engine mounts
- e34 rubber mounts
- my old e30 gear box mounts?
Also I need to upgrade my front struts but I dont know what to look for exactly, anyone can give me a link or a pic, just not sure what to buy.
Can I keep the old radiator?
Cheers, JF

you need e28 m5 mounts not e34 ones,
you can keep your gearbox mounts if they are good yes.
you dont need to upgrade the struts, 6 cylinder springs are required though.
you "could" use your current rad, but an e36 rad is a much better idea.

If the car is an M40 saloon, you will need to change the struts for the larger 51mm struts.

just get some 51mm strut legs from any touring ,any cab or any 325i .you can change the dampers and springs for anything that takes your fancy but if your running solid discs now would be the time to buy the vented discs and callipers that are fitted to the 51mm struts as one package.

So to fit an m50b25 in my e30, I need - e34 m50b20 sump
- e36 325i engine arms
- e28 m5 rubber mounts
The rest should be all good, its the only bit I'm not sure because of the sump choices, although its in the wiki but..
Its all happening,
cheers

Yes, any M50 sump from an E34 is fine. You will also need the oil pick up pipe from the E34.JF008 wrote:can I use the sump from an e34 m50b25 engine?
