He's sent me a few PM's about my high comp lump, the one I got let down on. And I know he's been sniffing around Petes donk (ooooh errrr!)
He asked me how soon I could confirm mine was definately a high comp, which I did Thursday evening as I thought he could collect this weekend, and? Nothing.
He may be on holiday I suppose.

Doubt it, that's what he does to pretty much everyone on here that's selling something he'd like!B7 wrote:He's sent me a few PM's about my high comp lump, the one I got let down on. And I know he's been sniffing around Petes donk (ooooh errrr!)

The second reply in this thread is me saying "rip apart another car just for the engine? You must be mad!" Dozens of experienced zoners step in to agree.
8 pages later, polsta's got a shell for sale in the Wanted section...

... Id like to hear why you or anyone has a problem with someone buying a car for the engine and offering a shell to someone wanting a shell for a conversion project and trying to give it a new lease of life
"Dozens" of zoners have broke or used as donor- much nicer cars or ripped engines out of cars for conversions
Thanks to the constructive comments in the thread, rather than those like magpie and co here who just seems to want to bitch, but received a lot of good information and help from certain zoners, and wel get the problem sorted
Its bottom end trouble, the head was all sorted and pressure tested perfect and did not need a skim, re fitted with a new head gasket - number 6 came back up from 80 psi to a normal pressure, 3 and 4 no change, engine is not out yet , once its out and taken apart and assessed (whilst the car is at the paint shop for a bay re paint ), then a decision will be made on either to re build straight away or if its a more lengthy process, and also what to do in terms of standard or something a bit special
I've spoke to a couple of parties about engine possibilities ,Pete being one- who said 2-3weeks minimum before he can even remove the engine due to being busy, B7 being another who said I'd have to wait until yesterday for confirmation of high comp, which I've just seen he sent on Thursday, but I've had a couple of days away from it all after getting the car back home, and there's no point buying an an engine until mines been taken apart to see what's wrong
So there's your update, and no final outcome yet
You may carry on bitching..

Well, if it's just the middle two pots down on compression, I would be even more tempted to drop the sump and pull those pistons out to rectify the issue.

He has no choice, the NASA scientists put the head with no problems back on and the 40 psi pots did not
fix themselves !

So the question needs to be "what cured No6 cylinder?" What brand of magic made it ok again when the head went back on?

Well their ain't no fertan left in Pompey,so it's my guess he has used that.HairyScreech wrote:So the question needs to be "what cured No6 cylinder?" What brand of magic made it ok again when the head went back on?

You are clearly missing the reasoning behind everyone saying just buy an engine rather than a donor car just for an engine.gooner1 wrote:polsta wrote: "Dozens" of zoners have broke or used as donor- much nicer cars or ripped engines out of cars for conversions
So you are now looking at having to rebuild the bottom end, are you going to be using the guy to do this that wasn't able to fit the timing belt correctly and still hasn't worked out what is now wrong with the engine?
If you rebuild the current engine you may as well forget about getting the car on the road this year.
Still the best option my a mile is the buy Petes warrantied engine!!
nothing was incorrectly fitted, ive came to my own conclusions that he was spot on- when it was at my lock up and he did some investigating,as in the other thread in m20- he thought it pistons , that was even before the compression test etcKedge wrote:You are clearly missing the reasoning behind everyone saying just buy an engine rather than a donor car just for an engine.gooner1 wrote:polsta wrote: "Dozens" of zoners have broke or used as donor- much nicer cars or ripped engines out of cars for conversions

fast forward to after the head all checking out ok and a few options explored, on me asking for it- is its pistons and bottom end trouble
im not getting in to it- but some would say, people on here were wrong...
thats whats happening, engines comming out, they will be taken out, along with the others, and wel then find out whats happened, and decide where to go from thereSpeedtouch wrote:Well, if it's just the middle two pots down on compression, I would be even more tempted to drop the sump and pull those pistons out to rectify the issue.
that maybe what il have to do, way i see it is- for an engine change, my engine has to come out anyway- it doesnt make sense to put another engine straight in (buy engine, all the work, and cost for fluid and various bits etc) to then have my bottom end taken apart, and it not diagnosed as too bad-Kedge wrote: If you rebuild the current engine you may as well forget about getting the car on the road this year.

it makes more sense, to get my engine out, diagnose and assess the damage and rough costs to get it done - and then decide what to do, before just biying and putting a new engine in 1st

So you not coming to collect mine now? I thought all you needed was for me to confirm it was deffo a high comp and you were coming to collect.
Must have got the wrong end of the stick.
