Car's always go better after a service don't they?
New black touring - up for sale sadly
Moderator: martauto
Just got the car back from a local service (no time to get out to Ants) where they commented it felt really tight asked how did I get it all so mint? Very happy with that indeed

Ha ha, you know what they say? Pride comes before a breakdown
Amusingly it dropped all its coolant on the a40 yesterday.
Nothing major, just a leak at the throttle body gasket so joined up the hoses for now.
Honestly, give it some love and how does it repay me?!

Right, bit of an update on the Touring.
I managed to put a hole in the sump going over a speed bump I didn't see:

Fixed with metal expoxy and filled it up with oil again:

Which was good enough to get the car up to Big Bavarian Beauties in Ipswich for a service and new sump.
Having said that it broke down on the way, but not because of the sump issue. Seemed the fuel pump was cutting out thanks to a loose connection.
After taking all the underside of the dash out traced it to a plug that would cut the contact if you gave it a wiggle. Soldered in some wires to jump the plug and make it a permanent connnection. Problem solved thankfully!
So BBB did the following:
Replacement sump
Alternator belt
Fan belt
Power steering belt
Replace injectors with cleaned Injectortune one's
Replaced clutch master cylinder + slave
Replace rear wheel bearing
MOT - no advisories
Service
It's made such a difference to the car, it's in good nick but it's now really nice to drive once again. Engine sounds great (belts were squeaking so sounded like an annoying mouse under the bonnet) and it's amazing what you can get used to - I'd put it off for a year but that rear wheel bearing made a fair racket and now no noise at all from the rear on the motorway.
Used to go to Ant at A-Tech before he packed up but thoroughly recommend BBB, nice chaps and good prices.
Had a puncture a month or so ago so need to get a replacement Toyo put back on the rear, got some newly painted mirrors to put on the car and need to get a new rear tailgate badge as they're the only bits on the car that require attention now.
Needs a polish and then I'll stick some pics up. Been 3 years to get it to this point and very happy with it.
Anyone got a good metal rear badge for a touring?

Quick update, although nothing to say really. Totally reliable and ticking along nicely. Still my favourite BM.
Expect a post a in a couple of days of something failing..
Still need a nice metal rear badge for it if anyone has one?

Hmm I think I would only let it go if I had a mint Alpina Touring of WLN standard lined up. I did see one in the garage when I was up there once but I can't recall seeing it on his site for sale..

Easy Simon. Read a few pages of this thread a couple of weeks back and have been meaning to finish it. Seeing as we were talking about it in the pub on friday night, I just read the rest. Good work, the car looks great.
It's funny that I had no idea it was you. I remember giving you wrong information last year about changing the sump! It just sprung into my mind having seen the pics.
Anyway was good to see you the other night, if ever you need a hand working on the car give us a shout.

Hi Greg, how's things? Not been on here for ages so sorry for no reply.
Cars having a service at the moment and a couple of things done.
Let me know if you're out and about. Like to hear how yours is progressing.
Cheers

Just back from a service and it's going really nicely. Got it back and changed the ECU to one with slightly higher rev limit and it spools up rather nicely.
Gave the interior a thorough clean yesterday and will post a few pics of some little bits going on in the next few days. Still haven't got round to fitting the new mirrors yet I've had for over a year.
Am thinking about a BTB manifold...expensive I know.

Not much to report on the car of late. Fitted the new mirrors but it wasn't exciting enough for any pics.
Someone offered to buy it this morning which happens about every fortnight or so.
Changed the tax disc, and thats really it.
Oh and it goes better after a clean. Definitely.

Blimey, not posted on here for a while!
Unfortunately after deciding to go back into self employment my earnings aren't what I expected and I have to sell the Touring. It's the very last thing I have got of value and I've hung on to it for as long as I can but the mortgage needs to get paid.
Will post an ad in the for sale section shortly but if anyone's interested please get in touch.
