Not sure this is in the right section, but just wondering really... do I strip it for parts, or sell as is???

Front end damage, (hit on passenger front), on my cabby is worse that it looks apparently!!!
Had a friend of a friend come over from his bodyshop to take a look, thinking it would just need all the panels replacing (which I now have!), but he thinks that the front end is bent and it will need stripping and straightening and could take a bit of time and end up costing a lot - so basically, it's not worth me paying him to repair it!!!

So, what are the chances of getting a decent price for it, as it stands??? What could I ask for a cat C write off???
I'm assuming it would probably be bought by someone looking to frag it for a profit - meaning I would end up better off stripping it for parts?!?!?
How much can I expect to realistically make from selling parts???

It drove perfectly before the accident, 318i auto, beige/cream sport leather, recent roof - I'm assuming some of the cabby specific bits will get a decent return for me???
Its just finding time to strip it and sell bits that could be a problem!!!

Here's a quick post accident pic - anyone want to make me a decent offer for it as it stands???
I'll add more pics, do a proper ad (or parts thread), when I've worked out what I'm gonna do!!!

Scrap it, you won't get much for it complete when damaged.

The wheels, the interior (if it is good, most are not and tatty drivers seat and split stitching on the the top of the rear seat = are not) the drivers side front wing(if not rusty at the base} and a good roof have a value, the rest is virtually worthless. It will make a grand in parts , assuming the roof and trim are good. As a complete car, it is probably worth £4/500. As a repaired cat C it is a bag.

I assume / hope you had a nice earner out of the insurance company ? :)

I'll be breaking it then for sure!!! Interior & roof good, drivers wing good - just gotta find a day next week to start dismantling!!!

Considering the 3rd party that hit me admitted full liability at the time and my insurance company have it in writing, it took a hell of a lot of arguing to get a reasonable pay out!!!
It happened at the start of november and I settled with them a few weeks ago!!!!!!!!!!

Still need to scrape maximum funds together out of this though to buy something else - or even sort my mini project that has been on the drive for the last 8 years or more!!!

Thanks guys - I'll put a proper thread in the right section, starting with the interior, when I get a chance to take some pics, etc!!!

Don't just make a decision based on what "a friend of a friend" told you.

Get a few estimates from different bodyshops and then see how it goes.

Looking at the pictures, it just looks like panel work, but of course we can't see everything from here, so won't know for sure...

That said, it's a 318i auto, so to be honest, I wouldn't bother with it. Just strip the parts you think are worth something, then scrap the shell.
