Hello All

Well after nearly 3 years of ownership I had finally had enough of looking at it, so I bit the bullet and painted it. As usual I went overboard :D

Paint looks better then it actually was, previous owner had a cat that loved the warm bonnet... Looks better then it was.

First a little history

When I forst got it. Yup they are US spec diving boards

Image

Gave it some chrome euro spec bumpers

Image

Now time for paint.

The car was blocked right back to pretty much factory primer using a speed file then high filled.

Image

Then it gets blocked more with the speed file with 180, 240, 600 and 800.. I stress there was no orbital buzzers used all hand blocked.

Image

This is the result. (check out the reflection of the honda jazz)

Image

The car is then further stripped removing glass, doors, rubber, handles, lights everything.. Then masked up ready for paint.

Factory Luxor Beige is mixed up

Image

Time to shoot it with base coat.

Now time for some clear.

There was a total of 20 hours of body work in this car... Yeah I got carried away winkeye

Now its time to refit... Thats all for now

Great job, hope you are cleaning/painting the wheels while you are at it.
And the interior was all fine and the usual areas rust free? That will be a first from what I see all around.

Just thought coastal Sydney and the years would have done the job.

Mumbai is the worst in terms of humidity, sea side, and 37 C average temp through the year. Sweaty and hot weather killed the ECU in my E36.

Depends where it came from in the US and how long ago. Many north east coast septic turds are worse than ours !

Looks great.

Can I see an masked up aerial?

You've gone to the trouble of removing everything else prior to painting, why not the aerial?

if your going to do a car, do it right...and that is so right,id love to own one like this to smoke around in

not wishing to be negative as i love this car, interior is looking great but spend some time fine detailing it- clean and trim treat them sill trim covers, the caps over the seat mechanisms, and the seat belt holder/clips,hand breake handle and gaitor, etc etc, and bring in line with the rest of the car !!

what i did before re fitting, was wash all them type of bits n pieces in warm soapy water, scrubbing brush and tooth brush etc get rid of any grime, then trimm cleaner, and come up looking excellent then re fit looking like new

That looks awesome!!! I do the same thing when it comes to my own car. I did the same to my golf mk3 a few years back. A quick freshen up turned into de-indicatored, de-washer jetted, de seamed, euro tub, every panel high build primed and blocked to perfection, De-aerialed wing, matt black roof and all the touches I could of made and then refinished back in Indian red metallic. Needless to say, 2 weeks later... And a 26 hour shift masking up and painting later... I hit the town on the raz and felt like I was on drugs (not that I've ever done any drugs... No seriously, I haven't!)

Anyway. Mega work

Smart chromie!
I'll check with the manager
