Hello,

Been a member of the forum for a short while but only just had a reason to post.

Unfortunately involved in an accident yesterday and need to provide the Third Party with a value of the car. As I'm sure your all aware though they prices for these seem to be all over the place! However if some of you would be so kind as to give your opinion it would be appreciated. Here is a little info and some pictures of the car:

1994 L 318i Lux
I am the 4th Owner, mostly original with all documents present in wallet, all stamped up and invoices for at least the last decade.

It has some rust on the tailgate as you can see and also on the passenger rear arch where it has had its only repair in the past. otherwise all original metal and paint, which is mugello rot. Being mostly original it does of course have age related stone chips but on the whole its looking great for its age.

Other than wear on the drivers bolster and cracked dash in centre everything is original and unmarked / not worn on the interior, and it all works.

With regards to electrics and mechanics, everything works as it should except the factory fit alarm, all accessories are present.

Hope you like the pictures, I know a touring doesn't set everyone hart alight but I can say hands down this is one of the best cars I have ever owned, and really hope its worth enough to fight for with regards to insurance.

Sorry to here about the accident, the car looks nice.
Whats the damage? - unfortunately it won't take a lot for the insurance to write off a car of this age :(

Thank you.

Passenger side front wing, rear door and rear wing, all cosmetic. That's my fear too, but I think I have the option of taking the money and repairing myself. Even with this option though I need to know the value of the car to start with, which will be difficult to justify without expert opinion.

Assuming it has not done 50000 miles or 200k , I assume they will value it about £1000. It will be written off.

Start collecting copies of ads for dearer similar cars, ready for when the coooonts offer you £300 :(

Sorry I did forget the mileage! Just ticked over 110150.

Your right pacerpete, i'm expecting it to be written off, and am collecting ads as we speak. The reason for posting this thread is that I have been advised that a club / forum valuation can sometimes hold some weight, provided they are honest opinions!

This, if they do as they tried to do with mine they will value it as a e36, glasses car guide specifically states they do not value classic cars, as pete says collect ebay auto trader adds of very similar cars. This is what i had to do in the end, as the planks initially offered me £400

Sorry to hear about the accident. Your touring looks like she was in really great condition. I'm always following touring prices and have seen lots up for sale from 500 to 2,500 GBP with low mileage. I think 1,000 should be a good guesstimate for a late model touring..........
Good luck!
