What did you do to your E30 today?

While we like to complain, you will find that the roads are not so bad. Home to office and back is what I'm looking at using as a daily driver. And if you leave Mumbai, the highways, and roads and expressways are especially well made. We are paying toll for most major roads now, so they had better be maintainedRav335uk wrote:I don't think Alpina wheels would last long on Indian roads

So suggestions on rims still welcome.

Hunted the www for parts with no luck. Another weekend the car is on the stand.

A wash with Zaino Z7, Zaino Z18 claybar, 2 fine passes with menzerna using the machine polisher, 2 coats of Zaino Z2-pro with ZFX accelerator, a coat of Zaino Z8, trim all treated with C4 restorer, exhaust polished, satin bodywork back to blacked, wheels cleaned with bilt hamber and tyres sorted with Zaino Z16! After 10 hours i didnt have the energy to tackle the engine bay.

Hi Cook318IS
Looking good

I just hope they are not as busy chipping the roads where you are as they are here as that will spoil all your hard work.

Nope, but i'm on a stand at a car show tomorrow and the forecast is rain

Drove it, snapped a driveshaft bolt whilst driving, now have 1 wheel drive awaiting the RAC. Ggrrrrrr

I have had these BBS hanging around for while with Perrelli P600's on. Got them out of hiding and the side walls of the tyres were cracked. Pity! Anyway always wanted some Toyo's so got them fitted for when I hopefully get my car back beginning July.

No joke....read the small print though. ;)
The cab is parked at my mate's place and I've got his car for a bit as I need to drive all weekend and don't want to risk destroying the car due to a busted diff rear plate.
Still a convertible though so is good, handles better than the cab too, quieter on the road too....rubbish engine note though.

Ah, I didn't notice the small print. I thought you had changed the car, and your profession to hairdresser...
Today, I've followed FinalD's superb window adjustment guide and got my windows sitting nice and flush against the roof and each other - no more getting sprayed in the face, when it's in the car wash!
I also had a fiddle with the electric roof - small problem, which I will ask for assistance in the tech section..!

Depends entirely on the condition of the E30 in question!Gavla wrote:Don't be ridiculous...FinalD wrote:...handles better than the cab too, quieter on the road too....(
Indeed. Mine isn't in the best of conditions really. Aside from the busted diff casing it is mechanically sound but the exhaust is loud, it is a brick so wind noise is high, crap tyres mean I get lots of road noise etc.Brianmoooore wrote:Depends entirely on the condition of the E30 in question!Gavla wrote:Don't be ridiculous...FinalD wrote:...handles better than the cab too, quieter on the road too....(
The mx5 is much more precise and chuckable than the cab could ever be. Not quite as comfy on the motorway as the E30 and I'm already missing the torquey i6 and the noise. Hoping to have the e30 sorted for another road trip next weekend.

Started a major engine bay clean yesterday afternoon, in preparation for her M52 lump.. Then continued renewing the M52, and finally got the loom off to send to Danthe. Also realised the rocker cover gasket that CP4L have sent me doesn't match the one on it already! Damnnit. Inside of rocker cover will get a major clean today..
Replaced diff carrier bush and drained and refilled LSD oil. 75/140 as per wiki
According to my diff tag it is a S3.25 and is the small diff with only 6 bolts.
Also carried Insp 1 service + air filter and plugs and renewed cambelt. Now I'm ready fot the road

Replaced interior light, swapped the petrol cap for a lockable one and finally finished reconditioning the front leather seats (backs next! - which look like they will be a nightmare & probably beyond my skills)

Over the last week and a bit, between working long days and trying to be a good boyfriend. I have replaced the hermostat housing and thermostat and with that new gaskets for the inlet manifold, fitted my BBTB from maggspower, bypassed the cooling system to it, adjusted tappets... again, fitted an E46 067 rack along DanThe custom pipes and linkage, with that made up the appropriate UJ's for it, new Lemforder track rod assembles, cleared out 6 inch stacks of mud and grit from both wings behind the arch liner and waxoyl'd them and the rear arches, treated a bit of rust on the inside of the rear valance, repainted and waxoyl'd and finally fitted a new rear end to my exhaust.
Think I might have to get back under there and fit the Burton engine mounts as I can hear/feel a bit of grinding on the steering..

Had a few spare hours at work today so got a few jobs done.
Fitted some sounds
car came with none at all, not even speakers!
Won a nice clarion cd head unit on ebay for 99p,and it works
Fitted some new front and rear speakers 38 quid for two pairs of 120 watt 2 ways off ebay
Removed a carrier bag full of old alarm wiring from behind the glovebox and then tidied wiring etc.
was loads of clips and screws missing so replaced those.
Need the mounting plate for the abs ecu and a glovebox strap
Someone had cable tied the drivers under dash panel to the
column even tho the correct clip was there !???

On the upside I found some Z-8 Grande finalle sealent spray and must say i'm quite pleased with the results
