Firstly I'm sorry if you've already covered this before but I'm a relative beginner. I put my E30 325i Cab in for its mot last week (after being garaged over the winter) then on the way back it was stalling while I was waiting in traffic. This had never happened before, infact in the last year which I've owned it, its never let me down. This has steadilly worse to the point that it cuts out when I'm driving and now the symptoms are as follows. Starts first time from cold and runs for 2-3 mins then dies, restarts first turn then dies after 30secs. It does this 2-3 times then wont restart until its sat for 5-10 mins. I changed the fuel filter, shorted the pump and it runs although I supose it could be on its way out. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Could be quite a lot of things, but the first thing I'd do is pull out a spark plug and see if it's sooty-black. I have a feeling your car is running rich, and this is often caused by something called the Blue Temp Sensor:

If it's a post facelift engine, I'd suspect the C301 plug and socket before the sensor itself.
Wiki testing procedure is poor. The sensor should be tested at the ECU plug first, before you disturb any wiring under the bonnet.

If it's 'G' reg., it's post facelift in the engine department. It's only the body shell and trim that lagged behind in the upgrade program.

Not the C191 under the intake manifold

You could well be right there!! This is what happens when I try to post technical things while engrossed in the live Le Mans TV coverage!

And the above is what happens when I try to "quote" a post while engrossed in Le Mans coverage, and "edit" a post instead!!!!
C191 is what it should have read, not C301.

given it check over everthing mentioned but it turns out that there is only 7-8v at the coil, tried changing the relays and the cps but its none of those. basicly if you run a live direct from the batery to the coil the car runs perfect. I've just got to find out where the voltage is dropping out, any sugestions

Probably an immobiliser connected in the feed. Not necessarily one you know about or necessarily just one.
