I am still working on my rusty bm, but need to access behind the protruding chassis framework, the section behind the drivers wing which has rusted up from the inner arch and needs re welding
how to i remove it ?

i can easily get at the top spot welds and seam welds to the rear but there are other inaccessible welds in the cut out sections, will i be able to cut these of if i peel the majority off the car ?
any help much appreciated J

Do you mean the extending strengthener that's rusting off that car there? (mine!)
To remove it, you drill out the spot welds at the headlight end, then work your way round with an angle grinder to get the rest of the seam-welds off.
However, considering that's my car, you might as well read the resto thread in my sig to see how I dealt with it.

yeah thats the one, its in really good condition, especially compared to yours pre repair but rusty as you like on the top inner arch - its risen up through the studs that hold the plastic wheel arch trim and down through the battery tray- bad news as i thought id finished this corner and was prepping to paint.
i checked out your resto on migwelding but only saw how you cut through the section and then rebuild it.
I will drill out the spots and seam welding this weekend and hopefully get it off in one piece - i was just concerned that it would have spot welds i couldn't reach and id end up trashing it for no gains
cheers
